Proof of 1=infinity ------------------- Back in eleventh grade, Mr. Laeser, source of many odd things, gave George and I the challenge of showing that one was equal to infinity. The reasons were philosophically based, as he wanted to show that there was oneness in the universe. Anyways, one day, poof! There it was, in Mrs. Ross's British Literature class, as obvious as could be: Let x=0 y=infinity xy = x y = 1 (Divide both sides by x) infinity = 1 There is unity in the universe! Well, we should have been more careful in the above, truthfully: Let x=0 y=some large number x*y = x for any choice of y Now take the limit as y->infinity. x is just a constant and may be factored out. Thus lim y->infinity of y is simply 1. Entropy my butt!
